Scenario 1 - Rental hardware

If you have decided to rent your server hardware from BEK Server Web Services, the server and user data as well as the renumbering of IP addresses must be migrated. To ensure a seamless transition, we recommend setting the Time-To-Live (TTL) times for DNS entries to low values at least 24 hours before the scheduled move to avoid long caching of outdated values.

If your current provider is unable to do so, we recommend moving the relevant domains to us so that we can handle the configuration before the server move for you.

Once the server data is synchronized, all services and databases on the old servers should be stopped to avoid further modifications. Then, DNS entries for web presences, mail servers, and all other services are changed to the new IPs. A second synchronization run takes place, which takes only a short time due to the low data changes.

After all server services have been started on the new servers and their functionality has been checked, the move is successfully completed.

Scenario 2 - Own server hardware

In this scenario, you are the owner of the hardware and there is no rental fee required at BEK Service Web Services. Instead, a physical transport of the computers is required, and the renumbering of the IP addresses is done as in the first scenario. We are happy to organize the transport of the computers for you and set up all server locations in advance to avoid delays.

For particularly critical services, we provide powerful server hardware during the move to ensure functionality during the transport phase.

Scenario 3 - Own IP networks

If you have your own IP networks, the move to BEK Server Web Services is uncomplicated: after the synchronization of data (scenario 1) or the transportation of the servers (scenario 2), we take care of the announcement of the IP networks so that renumbering is not necessary. However, if this is not possible, there may be an option in particularly critical cases to tunnel existing IP addresses with the previous provider for a transitional period, enabling parallel operation of the existing and new IP addresses.
